It is the mission of the North Platte/Lincoln County Convention and Visitors Bureau to enhance and promote a positive image of the communities in Lincoln County, to assist in the development, continuation and promotion of quality events, attractions.
North Platte, otherwise known as Rail Town USA is located in west central Nebraska, at the junction of Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 83. Boasting more than 1500 sleeping rooms, it is a convenient stop halfway between Omaha and Denver.
North Platte is home to Union Pacific's Bailey Yard, the largest railroad classification yard in the world. The Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center is an eight story tower with observation decks on both the 7th and 8th floors overlooking the massive operation.
Buffalo Bill Cody called North Platte home, and it was here that he got the inspiration to create his Wild West Show. Cody's mansion and barn are preserved at the Buffalo Bill State Historical Park.
The North Platte World War II Canteen served more than 6.5 million service men and women as they passed through to the various fronts of the war. The Canteen story is told at our Lincoln County Historical Museum.
